Job Summary
Encardio is seeking an accomplished Senior Hardware Engineer (Embedded Electronics) to lead the design and development of embedded hardware products for industrial, IoT, wireless communication, and data acquisition applications. This role owns the full hardware development lifecycle — from concept and prototyping through testing, validation, and manufacturing support — while mentoring junior engineers and driving technical innovation across the R&D team.
Key Responsibilities
Hardware Design & Development
- Design and develop embedded hardware systems built around 8-bit and 32-bit microcontrollers, with a preference for STM32/ARM platforms.
- Engineer hardware solutions supporting wireless communication technologies, including LoRa, GSM/GPRS, 3G/4G LTE, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth.
- Design hardware interfaces for UART, SPI, I²C, RS232, RS485, SDI-12, Modbus, and Ethernet protocols.
- Develop ultra-low-power hardware architectures for battery-operated field devices.
- Design data acquisition systems, sensor interfaces, and signal-conditioning circuits.
- Design power supply circuits, including SMPS, Buck, Boost, and SEPIC converter topologies.
- Design active filters and signal amplifier circuits to meet system performance requirements.
Testing & Validation
- Prepare and review schematics and PCB designs.
- Conduct board bring-up, debugging, testing, and troubleshooting.
- Validate hardware performance and reliability through structured laboratory testing.
- Support prototype assembly and hands-on hardware verification activities.
System Integration & Manufacturing Support
- Collaborate closely with firmware, software, and mechanical teams to ensure seamless product integration.
- Support component selection, BOM preparation, cost optimization, and production readiness.
- Coordinate with vendors and manufacturing teams to ensure successful product realization.
- Ensure adherence to ISO 9001:2015 quality management requirements.
Leadership
- Lead hardware development projects from concept through to production.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering technical growth within the team.
- Champion continuous improvement and technical innovation across the R&D function.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronics, Instrumentation, or a related engineering discipline.
- Minimum 8 years of hands-on experience in embedded hardware design and product development.
- Demonstrated experience managing the complete product development lifecycle, including prototyping, testing, validation, and manufacturing support.
Required Technical Skills
- Strong foundation in Analog and Digital circuit design.
- Hands-on experience with ARM/STM32-based hardware development.
- Practical experience in LoRa hardware design, covering both nodes and gateways.
- Solid understanding of RF principles and wireless module integration.
- Working knowledge of power management and low-power design techniques.
- Proficiency with hardware debugging and test equipment, including DSOs, MSOs, logic analysers, multi-meters, power analysers, test jigs, and circuit simulators.
- Experience with PCB design and review using Altium Designer, Eagle, or similar tools.
- Sound understanding of EMI/EMC, DFM, DFT, grounding, shielding, and signal-integrity considerations, including high-speed design principles.
- Hands-on experience with firmware upgrade/programming procedures for embedded hardware.
- Working knowledge of flash memory interfacing and integration.
- Practical experience in PCB assembly, soldering, rework, and SMT processes.
- Working knowledge of regulatory and compliance standards, including EMI, EMC, CE, FCC, RoHS, and REACH.
Preferred Experience
- Background in Industrial Automation, IoT, Telemetry, Instrumentation, or Environmental Monitoring products.
- Experience with wireless sensor networks and remote monitoring systems.
Key Competencies
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent troubleshooting and debugging capabilities.
- Proven leadership and mentoring ability.
- Effective communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and meet deadlines.
