About the Role:
We are looking for a skilled and analytical Geospatial Scientist to work on geospatial data, remote sensing, GIS, spatial analytics, and geospatial AI applications. The role involves processing and analyzing satellite, aerial, raster, vector, and other spatial datasets to develop accurate, scalable, and actionable geospatial solutions.
The candidate will collaborate with data scientists, software engineers, GIS specialists, and domain experts to develop geospatial models, analytical workflows, and data products for real-world applications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process, analyze, and interpret large-scale geospatial and Earth observation datasets.
- Develop Remote-sensing workflows for spatial and temporal analysis.
- Work with raster, vector, satellite imagery, DEM, LiDAR, SAR, and other geospatial datasets.
- Develop spatial models, algorithms, and analytical methodologies.
- Perform image classification, feature extraction, change detection, segmentation, and other remote-sensing analyses.
- Apply statistical and machine-learning techniques to solve geospatial problems.
- Conduct spatial validation, accuracy assessment, and uncertainty analysis.
- Collaborate with engineering and product teams to convert scientific solutions into scalable applications.
- Document methodologies, workflows, assumptions, experiments, and results.
- Stay updated with developments in GIS, remote sensing, Earth observation, GeoAI, and spatial data science.
Key Deliverables:
- High-quality geospatial datasets and analytical outputs.
- Spatial models and algorithms for business/product applications.
- Remote-sensing and satellite imagery analysis outputs.
- Accurate spatial-temporal models and insights.
- Data-quality and accuracy assessment reports.
- Technical documentation for geospatial methodologies and workflows.
- Production-ready geospatial solutions in collaboration with engineering teams.
Qualifications:
- Phd degree in Geospatial Science, Geography, Remote Sensing, GIS, Earth Science, Environmental Science, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field.
- 4+ years(Including Phd TA Ship) of relevant experience in geospatial science, GIS, remote sensing, spatial analytics, or a related field.
- Hands-on experience working with raster and vector geospatial data.
- Experience with satellite imagery or other Earth observation datasets.
- Knowledge of statistical analysis, spatial modeling, and/or machine learning.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Technical Skills:
- Programming: Python, SQL; R/C++ is an advantage.
- GIS Tools: QGIS, ArcGIS, or equivalent.
- Remote Sensing: Satellite imagery processing, image classification, feature extraction, change detection, multispectral/SAR analysis.
- Cloud/Platforms: AWS, Azure, GCP, or Google Earth Engine.
- AI/ML: Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Computer Vision, GeoAI/Spatial AI.
- Data Formats: GeoTIFF, Shapefile, GeoJSON, KML, NetCDF, HDF, Cloud-Optimized GeoTIFF, STAC.
